About The Author
Dale’s connection to storytelling was born in Salisbury, North Carolina — a place that still lives vividly in his imagination. In 1965, as a young student at A.T. Allen Elementary, he discovered a love for performance and character through school plays. Long before pen ever touched paper, Dale was already building
worlds in his mind, giving voice to the people and places around him. Those early years in Salisbury weren’t just memories — they were the foundation of a lifelong storyteller’s voice.
But Dale’s story doesn’t stay in one town. His journey carried him across the country to Miami, Durham, Alaska, and Arizona — with each new chapter adding depth and texture to his perspective. He managed theaters, worked with at-risk youth, and served as director of the Miami International Boat Show. It was there, during a quiet afternoon, that he wrote a 9,000-word short story — a creative spark that decades later evolved into Adventures at the Boat Show The Castro Diaries. In Alaska, he and his wife ran a group home for children; in Arizona, they opened their hearts to international students. Wherever he went, Dale gathered pieces of people, conversations, and scenes — transforming them into stories that echo with truth, tenderness, and life.
